Angela
Jackson is a local Encinitas artist and teacher
exhibiting at the Cardiff by the Sea Library with sea and landscapes. From Sea to Italian Countryside: A
Visual Genealogy includes ocean images we
are lucky enough to see here in San Diego which are her main source of
inspiration. She strives for a meditative, calming image. But Jackson has ancestral history that
stretches to villages in the Campania in southern Italy like Pietradefusi, San
Nazzaro, and Taurasi. She is hoping to
help others awaken memories of places and families in the viewers lives. Some
of these landscapes are inspired by images from an Italian cousin who is a
professional photographer.

As part of Italian Heritage
Month, Jackson will share the story behind her reconnection with her Italian ancestry
and family in Campania. She will discuss how visits to ancestral villages
and connections with
family in Italy, and how this became part of the inspiration for the work.
